Youth Resilience Fund

Relaunching FoodWhat’s Youth Resilience Fund

Our community continues to hold fear in the face of uncertain, volatile factors affecting livelihoods, mental and physical health, and stable family home life. We firmly believe any additional peace of mind FoodWhat and its supporters can offer in the form of supplementary income will go a long way toward strengthening the resolve and resilience of the youth and families we serve.

We have reignited the Youth Resilience Fund (YRF), a fundraising effort to bring supplementary income directly into the hands of FoodWhat youth participants and their families.

We invite you to step up to directly support youth and their families in this moment through the YRF, and in doing so, sow confidence, trust, health, and hope directly within our community.

Fueling the Fund

The goal here is to put $1,000 post-tax into the pockets of each of the 86 youth participants in FoodWhat this year. We know that the youth we serve will use this critical resource to support themselves and their family at this key time. So we’re setting out to raise $95,890 (equal to $1,115/participant) that FoodWhat will pass straight through our organization to youth and their families.

Why is the Youth Resilience Fund Necessary?

As youth and their families experience fear, continued economic turbulence, and concern for their future, this fund serves as an immediately stabilizing force.

Given the significant impact reported from the 2020 and 2021 Youth Resilience Fund launches during Covid, we know this works. It’s a way for you to take meaningful action, now. And above all, the YRF underscores that we are unwaveringly here for our community.

Previous Youth Resilience Fund Impact

In 2020, payouts from YRF resulted in striking impacts at the household level. This is how youth reported using these funds:

After receiving the YRF in 2022, youth shared stories of how this community support affected their everyday lives:

Thank you for showing up for youth and their families in this time.
